AT SEVENTY-SEVEN
When you get to be my age,
You should not wish for a Happy New Year
Instead, try for a Happy Tuesday.
Put down those green bananas,
And reach for the ripe ones.
The green bananas will ripen by Thursday;
Who knows what Thursday will bring.
If it's winter, do not long for spring.
Enjoy the bare branches and cold winds
While resting by a warm fire
With old memories.
A glass of old wine
An old cat purring in your lap
As you doze off
Into tomorrow.

Hear, hear! You're absolutely right, Chancy.
Happy New Year, Chancy. Here's to us all meeting up same place, same time next year!
Just lovely.. and true for any age.
Wishing you the happiest of New Years.
Chancy - may all your bananas be ripe for a long, long time. Happy New Year.
Thanks to all of you, my blogging buddies.
Happiest of New Years and thanks for the blogging.
Hey, were you peeking into my windows today?
LOL....that was great, Chancy. I love the part about green bananas.
To live in the moment, to enjoy the purring of a cat and the rain on the roof and the smell of meatloaf in the oven. Good things.
