Last Friday I went to the Yahoo games site to play bridge. I played many, many years ago and I was picking it up well enough to play in the Beginners Room. I had forgotten a lot about bidding, however, so I decided to go browsing for a bridge site about Bridge Bidding.
The second site I went to seemed like a winner so I clicked "favorites" to file the site for later reference. Instead of being saved in "Favorites" it went directly to my internet files. I tried to delete it but no luck. Then a box came up that said " Trojan virus" from AVG internet security. It asked if I wanted to "heal" it or "isolate it". I clicked one then the other but I could NOT get any action. Then my computer started going crazy. Black to light screen then for about 5 seconds a soft porn site came up.
I quickly shut down my computer and went to bed. I could not sleep until 3am as I was so worried.
And sure enough when my son came over the next day he found out that I had a terrible virus
on my computer. It had crashed.
I am on Sam's computer now. My son worked and worked and after 5 days he was able to restore my computer. I will lose any information I had prior to August of '07 but I can manage.
He said if I had to buy a new computer he would get an APPLE. It seems APPLE does not crash as much.
Anyway, when my son brings the old computer back to me it will be all clean and he is putting a better security system on it.
Darn It
There's always something.
But I am SO THANKFUL for my smart son who is always willing to help out.

My computer recently started to process slower...I was at first worried about a virus, but now I think it is just getting old like me.
That would have kept me up too!! When the computer is good, it's very very good but when it's bad it's awful.
My son is my life saver too, if I have a problem he's there for me. What would we do without them.
If you asked him what kind of computer to get he would recommend an Apple too!
An aside to Tabor: You gave me a laugh with your comment. My computer was slowing down too, got more memory and now it's just fine.
I wish I could get more memory too. ;-)
Tabor and Millie. Thanks for the chuckles..
PS: Just a few days before my computer got the virus, my son's little 8 year old daughter (my granddaughter) was over here and she was showing me a lot of itchy, pink bumps on her legs. She said it was a virus but not contagious. When my son came over to check out the computer he brought M(granddaughter) with him. On the way over my son (her Daddy) told M that my computer had a virus and "pink spots" . He told her she gave my computer the virus. :O
He is a big tease. :)
Mine is getting slower and slower and it often opens up 80-90+ processes at a time, so I have to shut down and start over. I smell a rat!!
You are lucky to have a son who can fix things for you!
These people who create the virus problems really tempt me to think of drastic responses - none of them come to much but I am so so tired of having to put on more and more protection - Perhaps it is all the weight of the virus protection that is slowing all of us down?
Glad you are up and running again
Computer viruses are scary things. My computer has seen a few of them as well. Not fun.. no not fun at all.
